Remember, window openings are rarely perfectly straight, that’s why it's always important to measure in three places for the width and height. Check our Measure Instructions under Help for more details, our how-to measure video and a downloadable measuring guide.

Measure the inside width of the window in three places: the top, middle, and bottom. 

Inside Mounts: Use the smallest measurement.

Outside Mounts: Use the longest measurement and add 3 - 4 inches for maximum coverage.

Height:

Use longest measurement from edge to edge, inside/outside (according to Mount type) of window frame. Outside Mount: add 2-3 inches above window for mount & extra length to bottom to overlap window frame.

Most customers prefer to mount their blinds inside the window frame. It gives a neater, more tailored look, without covering any details of the window or the surrounding decorative moulding. 

Remember, to ensure a perfect fit for inside mount installations, please follow our measuring instructions; do not deduct anything from your measurements as this will be done automatically by production when they make deductions for mounting brackets. There is also no need to take deductions from your outside mount measurements.

Good To Know:

We recommend you do not place faux wood blinds in windows that can reach up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit or are in constant direct sunlight from the south or west as this may result in slight warping of the slats. 

Note: A white shroud covers the cords (ladder strings) as a child-safety measure to meet the new requirements of Health Canada regarding corded blinds.
